Styling changes were slight this year. The grille still had thin, vertical bars, however, the border around the grille was chrome-plated, and there was also new trunk lid trim. "Mercury" in block letters ran horizontally at the top center of the grille followed by "Eight" vertically in block letters running down its center. Both were outlined in black. The Mercury name was also placed on the side of the hood. Different hub caps were used. More chrome was used on the interior, and the dash dial faces were redesigned. The convertible and station wagon came with leather upholstery.
1947 Mercury Eight production totaled 85,378.
