1946 Olds Dynamic Cruiser - Seventy Series

The Dynamic 76/78 was a nice balance of "big-car" and "economy-car". Six cylinder cars were known as 76's and eight cylinder cars as 78's. Standard equipment for the Seventy series included front and rear bumper guards, vacuum booster pump, dual sun visors, cigarette lighter and plastic radiator ornament. DeLuxe equipment for this series included wider door trim, foam rubber seat cushion, special steering wheel, DeLuxe instrument cluster, electric clock, chrome wheel trim rings and rear seat arm rest.  Dynamic series cars came standard with 6.50 x 16 inch tires.

Dynamic Series Engine and Transmission

Engines: Technical features included electro-hardened aluminum pistons, I-beam connecting rod design and automatic choke with fast idle feature.

Fire-Power Six-cylinder

  • Displacement: 238 cu. in.
  • Bore and stroke: 3-1/2" x 4-1/8" 
  • Cast iron block. L-head 
  • Five main bearings. Solid valve lifters 
  • Carburetion: Carter one-barrel Model WA I -504S 
  • Compression ratio: 6.5:1 
  • Brake horsepower: 100 @ 3400 RPM

Fire-Power Eight-cylinder

  • Displacement: 257 cubic inches
  • Bore and stroke: 3-1/4" x 3-7/8"
  • Cast iron block. L-head
  • Six main bearings. Solid valve lifters
  • Carburetor: Carter two-barrel Model WDO-503S
  • Compression ratio: 6.5:1
  • Brake horsepower: 110 @ 3600 RPM

Transmissions:

  • Three-speed manual with column shifter was standard.
  • Fully automatic HydraMatic transmission was optional

Condition-Air heater and ventilating system - Dual-flow heater and defroster - DeLuxe radio - Standard radio - DeLuxe plastic steering wheel - Electric clock - Directional signals - Safety spotlight - Auxiliary driving lights
