1964 Studebaker Avanti Ads |
|||||
Due to the mid-year move to Canada, Studebaker made no effort to make a definite break between 1963 and 1964 Avanti. Most 1964 versions had round knobs on the console heater/defroster/vent levers. Early 1964s had round headlight enclosures, but about 750 cars produced in 1964 had square headlight enclosures. The 1964 Avanti had wood-grained consoles, instrument panels and steering wheels. The basic body styling was the same as 1963. The last Studebaker Avanti was built in December 1963. Production for 1964 was 809, a huge drop from 1963's 3,834, however, ceasing production in December, early in the model year, contributed to the small output. Studebaker would peter out by 1966, but the Avanti would live on until 2006 under various owners - a testament to Lowey's design.
