1958 Chrysler 300D Ads

The US was in the midst of a fairly strong recession in 1958, and sport and luxury cars seemed to suffer the most.  As such, the Chrysler 300D took a beating in sales—down from 2,402 in 1957 to 809, making it one of the more rare 300s.

Of course, it didn't help that the optional Bendix electronic fuel injection was filled with glitches—as it was too far ahead of its time. Fuel injection would come into its own with the advent of improved computer control systems.
