1930 DeSoto Ads

For 1930 the original Series K DeSoto six continued to be sold in the 1930 model year. The cars were as produced when first announced - with the same models and prices.

In January 1930, DeSoto introduced the new Series CF eight cylinder model called the "DeSoto Straight Eight" marketed as a low-priced eight-cylinder car. Standard equipment included North East ignition, hydraulic brakes, mono-piece body construction, fuel pump, and downdraft carburetor.

Recognizing that there would be a need for a newer six cylinder car with more frills, DeSoto launched their "Finer Six Cylinder" in May 1930. It had a deeper radiator shell and cowl lamps mounted on top of the front fenders, otherwise it looked much like the original DeSoto six. Key standard equipment added Delco-Remy ignition and a190 CID engine producing 60 HP.

Production of 1930 models, exclusive of the original  Series K Six were 32,091. Additionally, approximately 20,000 Series K Sixes were delivered in the 1930 model year.

The Automotive History Preservation Society Digital Documents Library provides these materials for educational, or research, or personal use. You should not republish these materials for financial gain without informing the original author or publisher.

New for 1930 was the DeSoto Straight Eight - with an 8 cylinder 208 CID engine delivering 70 HP and priced from $985 to $1,065.
