The Ford Custom, Custom 500, and Galaxie XL and LTD as well as the Ford Station Wagon all rode on a 119" wheelbase, and were full-frame, large cars. The crisp, new styling resulted in an increase in sales over 1964, 978,519 versus 923,232. This was helped by the new upscale LTD 4-door which sold 105,729 units. The new styling, the LTD and the over one-half million Mustang sales lept Ford well past Chevrolet in sales.
