1959 Studebaker Lark Ads

Studebaker's sales had been slowly dropping since 1955, even with the acquisition of Packard (big mistake on both parties' part).

But for 1959, Studebaker introduced a sharp new mid-sized car, called he Lark, which arrived at the perfect time - in themidst of a serious recession. Good-looking, priced right and with tons of room (it would become the model for the Ford and GM mid-sized cars of the  mid-sixties). The car would be equipped with either a 6 or V8 and offered spirited performance  and good mileage in either mode.

The introduction resulted in a more than doubling of Studebaker's total sales 90% of which were these new Larks! 123,171 new Larks were produced in 1959.
