For 1937 the Jaguar SS was merely improved. The advertised 4.5L engine was dropped and a 1.5L version of the 2.5L was added. Minor changes involved better ventilation more leg room and updated SU Carburetors. The 2.5L version was capable of 100 MPH in independent tests, resulting in later versions being called the SS 100 The 1.5L could hit 90 MPH, hence the SS 90 designation.
