1977 Pontiac Firebird Ads

Trans Am goes to the movies and becomes a legend.

The now mandatory rectangular headlight shape and a pointed center split in the grille divider helped herald the Firebird into 1977.

No more 455, instead an Olds 403 V8 became an emissions option on the Formula and Trans Am.

With the help of the block buster movie "Smokey and the Bandit" the Black and Gold Special Edition Trans Am became a drive-in legend. The fact that a TV detective named Rockford drove a gold Firebird Esprit during most of the mid-'70s didn't hurt the Pontiac ponycar's rep either.

In fact, the Firebird was selling so satisfactorily, I can't locate a single factory-issued advertisement of the beast.
