1963 Volkswagen Ads

InĀ 1963, the car stood pat on most of its 1962 upgrades; a fuel level gauge in place of the former fuel tap, at the rear, larger tail lights incorporating a separate amber turn signal section to meet new European standards, however the turn signals remained red in the US market until 1973. The former hand-pump style windscreen washer was replaced by a new design using compressed air, where a Schrader valve located on the washer fluid tank allowed the system to be charged at a filling station to the recommended 35 psi.

For 1963 however, the seats were changed from wool upholstery to synthetic. The VW emblem located on the hubcap was no longer painted. The engine remained at 1200 cc and 40 HP.

Total worldwide Volkswagen production for 1963 was 891,521
