1933 Packard Ads

The lower cost Packard was offered in three models, the Standard Eight, Custom Eight, and De Luxe Eight. It was powered by a aluminum-head L-head inline eight cylinder engine. The engine "floated" on rubber mounts, allowing for a smoother ride. Power was upgraded in this year 120 hp.The Eight offered optional (no extra cost) four-speed synchromesh transmission. It featured Ride Control, a system of dash-adjustable hydraulic shock absorbers. The Eight also featured automatic chassis lubrication and "shatterproof" glass.

The Eight was available on several wheelbases: 130" and 137". In 1933, base price of the Standard Eight was $2,150 and was offered in fourteen body styles. The 1933 De Luxe Eight started at $3,350.

Packard had introduced their Twelves, called "Twin Six" in 1932 in response to the cylinder war initiated by Cadillac among American luxury car marques. Then called the "Twelve" starting in 1933. The 1933 V-12 coupe sold new for $4,500. It weighed 5,500 lbs with a 142 inch wheelbase. It came with a 445 cubic-inch engine generating 160 horsepower.
