1941 Mercury Ads

The 1941 Mercury Eight got new styling and engineering improvements. Mercury now shared its body shell with the Ford line for lower Mercury production costs. Mercury's wheelbase was extended by 2.0" to 118". At the same time, there were chassis refinements, including improved spring lengths and spring rates, changes in shocks, and an improved stabilizer bar was fitted, but the old transverse leaf springs were still used.

The new body featured door bottoms that flared out over the running boards, allowing for wider seats and interiors. The car had 2.0" more in headroom, two-piece front fenders, and more glass area. The front pillars were made slimmer and the windshield was widened and angled more steeply. Parking lights were set atop the fenders for greater visibility and the Headlight bezels were redesigned. The "Eight" script was moved to the rear of the hood. In all closed Mercurys, the rear-quarter windows opened out and the front vent windows were now crank-operated. The 4-door convertible was gone, but a station wagon was added.

90,556 Mercury Eights were sold in the 1941 model year.
