1976 Pontiac Firebird Ads

Minor changes in the front and rear bumper cover shapes and the Formula hood scoop openings were modified.

A new Special Edition paint scheme was unleashed this season. Reminicent of the "John Player Special" Team Lotus Formula I race team livery, the black with gold stripping and badges would soon become imortalized in the wildly popular "Smokey and the Bandit" movie series.

The good new is, the 455 c.i. V8 was back in the Firebird this year. All 'birds equipped with the 455 also received a 4-speed manual transmission. The bad new is, this was also the last year for the 455 V8.

As the rest of the automotive world continues to reject anything to do with performance, the Pontiac Trans Am starts to pick up steam and popularity.
