1965 Cobra Ads

By 1965 the Cobra was firmly established as America's true sports car, capable of competing with the hottest from the U.S. and the world. But everyone was catching up - and Shelby knew more horsepower was needed. Thus, in 1965 the 427 Cobra was born.

The 427 was a completely new car, with just a resemblance to the small block version. The bodies were still made by AC, but to new specs and the chassis was all Ford engineering and the 427 side oiler was killer.
