1938 Studebaker Ads

In 1938 Studebaker offered the Commander, State Commander and President. Commanders and State Commanders were powered by a L-head 6 cylinder engine of 226 CID with 90 HP. Presidents were powered by a L-Head 8 cylinder engine of 250 CID and 110 HP. The State Commander was similar to the base Commander except it had the President-style headlamps. The President sat on a 122" wheelbase vs. the Commander's 116.5".

All Studebakers had a three-speed synchromesh manual gearbox with floor mounted gearshift controls and a single-disc dry plate clutch. They had dual wipers, safety glass, and planar suspension. Instruments consisted of a speedometer, engine thermometer, clock, and cigar lighter. They were equipped with two-way Houde shock absorbers and steel disc wheels.

1938 Production was 19,260 for the Commander, 22,053 for the State Commander, and 5,474 for the President, for a total of 46,787.
