1971 Oldsmobile OW-43 455 OHC Four Valve PR Photos

PR materials were sent to all automotive journalists, newspapers, magazines and any other media for use in any articles contemplated.

The OW-43 was an overhead cam development of the W-43 4-valve. It was never intended for production, bit rather to evaluate flow and the power potential in an OHC 4-valve configuration for street engines. Developing over 700 HP from 455 cubic inches, it proved the point.

(PS, the single 4-bbl intake from the W-43 would bolt up).

Later, when GM went searching for a high output 4 cylinder, the boys at Olds engineering dusted off their OW-43 design, built a 4-cyl lower end, 3/4 scaled the OW-43 head and the Quad 4 was born.

Photos shown with an asterisk (*) are high resolution and if copied to glossy photo paper will represent like the original..
