Oldsmobile's new styling helped pull the brand away from the disasterous year of sales in 1958 when only 299,657 cars were sold, th elowest number since 1952. In '59, 382,212 units were produced, and while not overwhelming, it did indicate that Olds would weather the recession that was gripping the country. Much of the new look would survive to some degree until the mid-sixties, when Olds would once again be established as a strong leader in the upper mid-price range. |
