1964 Pontiac Combined Big Car and Mid-Size Car Ads |
|||||
With advent of the new "A" body car, GM BOPC Brands wanted to make a tight linkage between the older big car and the new mid-size car that that had not existed with the introduction of the original A Body car in 1961-63. In the early '60s, GM had wanted to attract buyers during a recession who were looking for a small, economical car with roots in the GM family, but cars that were going their own way. Now, buyers were looking for big(ger) cars again, and didn't want the size of the old designs - but they wanted the heritage. These big car/mid-size car ads helped cement that heritage connection. |
