1965 Pontiac Mixed Model and Buddy Ads

Manufacturers used one model to promote another, or in the case where there were different sized vehicles aimed at different markets, a more recognizable or more popular model might be used to promote another.

Buddy ads are created by a company other than General Motors. Usually the product being advertised is automotive in nature. Regardless of the sponsoring manufacturer, a Pontiac is featured in the ad.

Hurst Performance Products and Pontiac Motor Division were best buddies from 1964 through 1967. In addition to supplying their famous 3 and 4-speed manual transmission control shifters for all of PMD's high performance offerings during these years, Hurst also chose the GTO to introduce their Hurst "Dazzler" custom wheel.
