1967 Ford Fairlane Ads

The Ford Fairlane grew up in 1966 to be a true md-size car, going from an expanced Falcon/Mustang unit body to its own platform. The size increase allowed the fitment of the Ford FE series engines, allowing Fairlane to compete with the likes fo GTO and Chevelle, as well as the mid-sized muscle from MOPAR.

The increased size also allowed Fairlane to better slot below the big Ford, rather than just above Mustang, a slot the Cougar would take in 1967.

Thus, for 1967, Fairlane changed little, offering more options and added trim. For some reason, sales declined in 1967, though the car sold well at almost 257,000 units (80 thousand less than 1966). Pundits declared that the loss was due to the wagon and Ranchero being on the Falcon chassis and somewhate dated styling. All this would change for 1968.
