This finalist is a beautifully restored 1964 GTO built by Chuck Woolery of Houghton Lake, Michigan. Chuck, who operates Run Right Classics specializing in GTOs, found this car about four years ago in Chicago. It was said to have once been owned by Arnie Beswick, famous GTO drag racer of the 60’s. This was not a drag car but a very well equipped GTO with the 389 cu.in. engine, 4 bbl carb, and two-speed automatic. In addition to the standard equipment, this GTO had factory A/C, a not so common option in 1964. Chuck acquired the car and began a full frame off restoration in his shop. About half-way through the restoration, a customer purchased the car and had Chuck complete the project. The car sports its original running gear with numbers-matching engine and transmission. The new owner wanted the classic tri-power set-up on the car, so Chuck added this in place of the standard 4 bbl. The rear end is a rare “4-cone posi” that many Pontiac cars had sporting 3.23:1 gears. This makes for a nice combination on the street. Inside, Chuck restored the original dash and floor console and redid the interior in factory red original patterned vinyl. The factory A/C was fully restored to cool this “hot one” down on summer days. The interior car is in showroom-new condition. On the outside, the car was painted in a 1964 Pontiac color called “Starlight Black” with the factory correct red pinstripe. Believe me, this car shines like a star. Adding to the exterior “eye candy” is an original set of Hurst mag wheels. These ultra-rare wheels were not available in 1964, but by 1967 were a featured option (though expensive) on GTOs. They’re a perfect touch to this outstanding muscle car. We think that you’ll agree – this is one mighty fine GTO!! From any angle this is a Mighty Fine GTO! Tri-power was added to the original numbers matching 389 cu.in. engine. The interior was fully restored. Chuck did the dash himself.
