Dave opted for the removable, hard roof rather than a convertible in the interest of a quieter ride when the top is in place.

Dave Rouille, who lives in Massachusetts, purchased his Torch Red 2003 Chevrolet Corvette brand new over the Internet from a dealer in Michigan in June of that year. It is a fiftieth-year anniversary car, but it is not an Official 50 year anniversary car as those models came only in Magnetic Red color.

Dave has kept the car completely stock, including its 5.7-liter, 350 hp V-8, and it is his daily driver during the nice-weather months. Over the 10 years he has owned the car, he has put over 70,000 miles on it.  It has every option except the CD changer.

Dave opted for the removable one-piece roof instead of a convertible as convertibles tend to be noisier with their tops up as compared to a solid roof.  The roof stores in the hatch, which Dave finds very convenient as he has been caught a few times in changing weather.  One feature he really enjoys is the heads-up display which allows him to check the speedometer, tach, and fuel gauge without looking away from the windshield.

Other than normal maintenance, the only thing Dave has done to the car is replace the original tires, which had worn out, with Nitto Supreme Racing tires.  This improved the handling and provided a softer ride as the original tires were run-flats.

Dave’s plan is nothing more than to keep the car until he can’t drive anymore, which he hopes is a long time from now.   He has taken it all over New England and enjoys cruising in it as well as the comments from other people and, of course, the “Corvette wave” from other owners of American's most famous sports car.

The car's color is officially "Torch Red."

The engine is a 5.7-liter V-8 putting out 350 hp.

Dave's car is a 50th Anniversary Corvette.
