American Iron Show

17th Annual American Iron car show August 12, 2018 Pleasant Hill, CA

by No Limits Staff

If it's August, then it is time for a bunch of car shows in northern California. The biggest shows are the Hot August Nights in Reno NV followed by the Goodguys West Coast Nationals a few weeks later. In between these monsters are car shows put on by local municipality–tied organizations for us "locals". One of our favorites is the American Iron car show put on by the Pleasant Hill Recreation and Parks District.

The show is limited to a little over 100 cars and the venue is a beautiful street called Crescent Drive. This crescent shaped (of course !) street is in the heart of the entertainment area of downtown Pleasant Hill. The Cinemark Theater is on one end and in between are shops, coffee houses, restaurants and (perfect on a hot day) frozen Yogurt shops . . .

1950 Olds 88

One Lucky Lady - Oleg Dubney's 1950 Olds 88 Coupe; "Lucky Lin"

by Society Staff

It's not unusual to find a car that has been owned by the same fellow for 20+ years. but to find one that has been held on to for 59 years! Well we wanted to know more.

Oleg Dubney bought this car in 1959 and named it after his steady -- Linda -- hence the "Lucky Lin" After a short but successful drag career, the car was stored in his parents chicken coupe for more than 40 years. It was pulled out and restored -- oh and Oleg married that "Lucky Lady" in 1961 and they are still together . . .
