HotRod Hoodlums Show

7th Annual Hot Rod Hoodlums car show September 22, 2018

by No Limits Staff

One of the fun things the No Limits crew likes to do is to attend local car shows in and around where we live. A local show – put on by one of the many car clubs in northern California – always provides a chance to see the many cool rides that locals have as well as to see the great civic involvement of the local car clubs. The Hot Rod Hoodlums car club is anything but hoodlums. They are a great group that works hard to support the activities of a local elementary school – Las Juntas Elementary

The show featured a DJ, vendors, food (a great BBQ) along with several raffles. One nice touch was that if you donated school supplies, you received $10 of raffle tickets in exchange – a win-win!

the show had about 100 entries with early street rods, low riders, muscle cars, cool customs, a few Harleys and some late model muscle from Dodge and Chevy tossed in. Walking around the lot was a fun experience to talk with owners and to see the ingenuity displayed by the builders . . .

1950 Olds 88

Robert Wyche's 1950 Oldsmobile Rocket 88 coupe - This beauty is more than skin deep!

by Society Staff

Robert Wyche is a car guy – a serious car guy. He owns a 1962 Corvette, a 1948 Chevrolet custom truck, a Studebaker Lark and a 1995 Chevrolet pickup. He really digs cool rides. When we spotted his 1950 Oldsmobile Rocket 88 coupe at the August version of Danville's 1st Hot Summer Sunday's car show, we wanted to know more.

What we found was truly a full on (yet very tasteful) "resto-mod" 88. What makes this car so cool is the fact that from outward appearances, it looks like a beautifully restored 1950 coupe done in a stunning # 29 Ivy Green paint with an original 1957 Oldsmobile Golden Rocket J2 motor.

The car was built by Bill Spaulding of Walnut Creek CA starting with a frame off restoration. The stock Olds frame was beefed up with a 2004 Ford Crown Victoria Police front clip grafted on to provide strut suspension, disc brakes and power rack & pinion steering . . .

We'll begin with the 30's and pre war years, and then move into the post war - from 1946 through 1954. Be sure to check back and go to our Latest Uploads pages to see what we're loading on a weekly basis. To see more about our monthly collections - click HERE
